Kingfisher is the county seat of Kingfisher County, and Choate keeps a yard just south of it, 4.5 road miles from downtown. That puts water trucks in the southern half of the county instead of sending them down from Hennessey every time a lease near town needs a load moved.
The closest Choate disposal is Hennessey South SWD #1, 17 road miles and about 30 minutes away. Choate SWD #1 and Choate SWD #2 are the next two, all reached by US-81, the road that already connects Kingfisher to most of the county's production.

Across the Cimarron
The Cimarron River crosses Kingfisher County between Kingfisher and Hennessey, and US-81 crosses it at Dover. Most of Choate's Kingfisher County wells are north of the river, so the route from a lease south of it matters: the highway bridge is the dependable crossing, and county-road river crossings are the ones that close after heavy rain.
STACK production on both sides of town
Kingfisher County is part of the STACK play. Leases east and west of town on SH-33 produce water year-round, and completions add flowback on top. Staging trucks at the Kingfisher Yard shortens the empty leg of every run, which is the part of a water haul nobody pays for.
One company for the truck and the well
The water goes into a Choate truck and down a Choate well: OCC-permitted Class II injection, no third-party disposal fee on top of the haul, and one dispatch desk for both. Call 405-463-9527 any hour.
Services in Kingfisher
Choate runs produced water and saltwater hauling, disposal at Choate-owned wells, freshwater hauling, vacuum trucks and kill trucks for operators in and around Kingfisher. The Kingfisher Yard means trucks can be on a local lease sooner than a run from farther away.

Roads and seasons around Kingfisher
Harvest traffic on US-81 and SH-33 peaks from late May into June. After heavy rain, Kingfisher Creek and Uncle John's Creek rise quickly, as the 2007 flood showed, and low-water crossings on the Cimarron's side roads are the first to close, so drivers route by the highway bridge at Dover.

Kingfisher was born in the Land Run of 1889 around a federal land office, and in June 1890 the rival townsites of Kingfisher City and Lisbon merged into one town. It took its name from King Fisher, an early resident. Abraham J. Seay, the second governor of Oklahoma Territory, built his mansion here, and Kingfisher College operated from 1895 to 1922. For a time the town billed itself as the world's leading wheat market.
The Chisholm Trail Museum and Seay Mansion on Zellers Avenue tell that story, and a statue of Jesse Chisholm stands in town. The Seay Mansion, the old post office, the armory, Memorial Hall and the Burrus Mills Elevator are all on the National Register of Historic Places.
Kingfisher High School's Yellowjackets won Class 3A state football titles in 2003 and 2013; the 2013 team finished unbeaten, beating Blanchard 30–23 in the final. Sam Walton was born in Kingfisher in 1918, and so was Joe Redington, the founder of the Iditarod. Pioneer Telephone Cooperative has been headquartered here since 1953, and the Kingfisher Winter Nights light display brightens the town each November and December.
