Choate Oilfield Services is a family-owned company that has been based in Hennessey since 2010. The headquarters yard at 16123 E 650 Rd., 3.7 road miles from downtown, is where the trucks that haul produced water off northern Kingfisher County leases start their day, and the wells they unload at are close by: Hennessey South SWD #1, 3.6 road miles and about 10 minutes away, and Choate SWD #1, beside the headquarters yard.
For an operator that means the whole cycle, from pickup at the tank battery to unloading at a disposal well, stays inside a small circle around town. Less time on the road per load is how a water truck turns into more loads per shift.

Hennessey sits in the middle of the STACK
Oil is not new here. The Hennessey-Dover field, part of the old Sooner Trend, was among the top hundred fields in the country by the early 1970s, and today the town sits in the core of the STACK, where Meramec, Osage, Oswego and Woodford wells produce water every day of the year, not just while they are being completed. That water has to go somewhere, on a schedule that suits the lease rather than the trucking company.
US-81 runs north and south through town and SH-51 runs east and west, so a truck leaving Hennessey reaches most of the county's lease roads without backtracking.
Why owning the disposal well matters here
When the company hauling the water also owns the well it goes down, there is no third-party disposal fee on top of the trucking rate and no queue behind another company's trucks. Choate's wells near Hennessey are OCC-permitted Class II injection wells run by the same dispatch that runs the trucks.
Baines #1 SWD adds a third option 12 road miles out, so a busy day at one site does not stop the work.

Roads and seasons around Hennessey
Wheat harvest, usually from late May into June, fills US-81 and the section-line roads around Hennessey with combines and grain trucks; drivers plan around it. In winter, ice on unpaved lease roads is the bigger risk than the highway, and spring rain can make red-dirt lease roads soft for days.

Hennessey takes its name from Pat Hennessey, an Irish-born freighter from County Cork who was killed at the townsite in 1874 while hauling supplies along the Chisholm Trail. Pat Hennessey Memorial Park on Arapaho Street marks the spot, and the town held a memorial for the 150th anniversary in 2024. Settlers arrived with the Land Run of April 22, 1889; the first train came through that September, and Hennessey was incorporated on June 10, 1890.
Hennessey Public Schools' teams are the Eagles and Lady Eagles, and Hennessey High won back-to-back Class 2A state football championships in 2010 and 2011.
Downtown, the Farmers & Merchants National Bank on South Main and the Farmers Co-op Elevator on West Kansas are both on the National Register of Historic Places, and Prairie Quilt on Main Street is known as Oklahoma's largest quilt shop. The town has Turkey Creek Golf Course, an aquatic center and Bullfoot Park, and every October the Hennessey Wine & Chocolate Festival fills Memorial Park.
